CHRISTMAS LUNCH AND QUIZ

The weather beat us yet again and no golf was played. However, this was replaced by a fun quiz with some pretty tough questions and delighted yells when the teams got the right answers. 36 ladies took part and congratulations go to the two lady team of Marion Munro and Anne Nicoll who won first prize. The best dressed prize went to Helen Abram who came as Mary with Baby Jesus and really looked the part. A nice lunch was enjoyed by all.

THE POOH PUTTER COMPETITION -- IS A DRAW

Pooh Putter Competition  - 12th August 2015

30 Ladies took part in the Annual battle between the Lady Captain's Team and the Vice Captain's Team today.  It was keenly fought and ended in an honourable draw.
It is interesting to note that this is only the 2nd time this has happened since the inception of the Competition in 1975 and the results stand at 21 wins for the Captain's Team and 17 wins for the Vice Captain's Team.  It was lovely to have so many ladies lunching together and if the noise was anything to go by I think it was enjoyed by all.  Perhaps that has also something to do with the fact that no waterproofs or brollies were needed!

Full details will be available nearer the time and a time sheet will be put up in the locker room next week.

Lunch time ballots seem to be causing some confusion and the following will hopefully clarify the situation.
If you intend playing in the lunch time ballot, you should notify the pro shop. A ballot will take place, the silver players going out first followed by the bronze, as has always been the case. This is not a time sheet. The advantage of contacting the pro shop is that you will be able to find out if anyone else is playing in the afternoon. If not, you at least have the opportunity to try and get a playing partner. This arrangement is not ideal, but depleted player numbers make it the best option. The afternoon ballot should be the norm but does not preclude anyone wishing to play 'by arrangement' if they find their circumstances make this impossible. We are trying something new and often change takes time to get used to. I feel we have to give this a reasonable trial period. We no longer have committee member numbers to accommodate the previous procedure.

WEST OF SCOTLAND INTER COUNTY JAMBOREE AT LOUDOUN GOWF CLUB

Denise with D&A County Champion Anne Laing
Many congratulations are due to Denise Cowan who was part of the Renfrewshire County team who took part in the above from 15th  - 17th June.
On Monday she won 3/2 in her singles match against Lanarkshire. Tuesday saw her half her singles match against Dumbarton and Argyll County Champion Anne Laing and on Wednesday morning she lost in the foursomes against Ayrshire. However, in the afternoon she came back from 3 down to half her match at the 18th.
Well done Denise quite an achievement and reflects well on not just yourself but on the club also.

Congratulations to the West Renfrewshire League team of Marion Munro, Jan Macnab, Vivien Howe, Helen Abram, Mary Hardie and Vicky Rennie who last night won 5-1 at home against Gourock. I am delighted to say that this means Ranfurly Castle's name will be on the Division 1 trophy this year, as with 3 wins out of 3 we cannot be beaten. Well played last night team and all the ladies who have played in the league this season.

LADIES DAY SATURDAY 13TH JUNE 2015 - GRAEME AND MORVEN ARE WINNERS

Morven and Graham - Ladies Day Winners

Ladies day winners Morven McLeod and Graham Taylor with Lady Captain Vicky Rennie.
27 couples took part in windy cool conditions but the weather didn't spoil the day which was enjoyed by all. In some cases it was a game of two halves. After visiting the drinks tent at the 10th one couple, having scored 22 pts on the way out, scored 7 on the way in! The buffet immediately after play proved popular and was good value.
The winners were Morven McLeod and Graeme Taylor with 37 pts.

West Renfrewshire League Win

Congratulations to the West Renfrewshire League team of Mary Craig, Maureen Cook, Jan Macnab, Vivien Howe, Mary Hardie and Gillian Donaghy who tonight managed to pull off the trick we have been struggling with for 3 years - an Away Win at Renfrew. The whole evening was surprisingly pleasant with dry, calm conditions and the Renfrew course not as muddy as it has been in the past. Special mention must go to Gillian who won her match on the first occasion she has played on any course other than Ranfurly Castle, but well played everyone.
